Pate is a delicacy known to everyone. Few, however, realize that the ancient Romans enjoyed the delicious pastries! Today, however, it is difficult to say unequivocally to what extent the pates of that time were similar to those known to us today. The regulations used today come from France and came to Poland in the 16th century.
These French recipes are used for home and industrial pâté production. Today it seems to be everyday food, in the past it was possible to treat it only on royal and magnate tables. And although the pate itself does not make a great impression on us, it can be used to conjure up dishes that even crowned heads would be delighted with!
Are you curious how the pate can be used?
Pies in puff pastry
As you can see, the patties go well with everything that is French! In this case it will be a cake. A dish that looks like a Versailles dining room can be prepared very easily and in less than an hour. Perfect as an appetizer or an effective snack - just in time for guests to visit!
What will you need?
- About 500 g of ready-made pate (e.g. Podlaski Poultry Pate),
- Ready puff pastry,
- Oil,
Optional:
- Greek yoghurt,
- Fresh herbs (e.g. oregano, basil).
Preheat the oven to 200 ° C. Then roll out the roll of puff pastry and cut out squares with a side of about 8 cm. Place the appropriate amount of pate in the center of each square. Then fold the dough so that the triangles are formed and firmly connect the edges to each other - this is important so that they do not open during baking. Before you put the triangles in the oven, brush them with olive oil. Place on a baking sheet, put in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes (until golden brown). You can serve patties with yoghurt-herb sauce (just mix yogurt with basil and garlic). Voila!
