Alcohol is associated primarily with drinking it, but besides direct consumption, it also has other uses, some of which you may not be aware of. Many of them can come in handy in everyday life, so it's worth knowing about them.

Deglassing, i.e. one of the culinary techniques

Deglassing consists in recovering the remains of food that stuck to the tray, pan or pot during frying or baking. The activity consists in heating the vessel strongly on the fire and then pouring the chilled wine into it. Alcohol, by rapidly increasing its temperature, will detach the remnants from the bottom. It is important to remove the vessel from the heat immediately after pouring the wine. Alcohol in the kitchen can of course also be used for cooking various dishes, for example you can prepare a wine fondue by cooking pieces of meat based on white wine.

Cake and "faworki"

Staying in kitchen climates, one should mention the dough. Adding vodka to a shortcrust pastry reduces the amount of water needed to knead it - and as you know, shortcrust should contain as little water as possible. In turn, the spirit can be added to the filling for faworki, which will prevent excessive fat absorption during frying.

Refreshing clothes

Alcohol can also be used outside the kitchen. It happens that the garment does not smell fresh, and unfortunately there is no time to wash it. In such a situation, vodka comes to the rescue as it kills bacteria that cause unpleasant odors. It is enough to gently sprinkle the clothes with alcohol and then ventilate them well. It is worth checking in advance whether a given item does not change color under its influence.

Window cleaning

Vodka is great for cleaning windows. Alcohol diluted with water will successfully replace traditional liquid, and may even be better than it. Unlike some preparations, vodka does not leave streaks.

Jewelery cleaning

A jewelery item consisting of one or more precious metals or containing precious stones such as diamond or emerald can be easily renewed with alcohol. It is enough to soak the jewelry in vodka for five minutes, then rinse it in water and dry it well.

Removing the patch

Removing the plaster from a wound can be very unpleasant. However, pain can be relieved by the use of alcohol, which dissolves the adhesive used in the patches. It is enough to put a cotton swab soaked in alcohol to it for a moment so that it can easily come off the skin.

Preparation for the nutrition of flowers

After cutting the flowers, they need to be put in water so that they do not dry out. It turns out that if you add a little vodka and sugar to the vessel with water, the freshness of the plants will be additionally extended.

Insecticide

Deterring or eliminating uninvited insects can be done without the use of special chemical preparations. Instead, you can use alcohol by spraying it with a spray at the appropriate places. Strong alcohol repels and even kills some insects.

Jellyfish burn

People who like to travel and adventure may one day deal with a jellyfish burn, which is not a pleasant experience. Vodka can be used as a disinfectant and reduce burning at the site of the wound.
