The bar is uneven, and certainly Lion is not similar to the Snickers. However, let's skip such issues as taste and focus on the differences resulting from the composition of the product.
The differences between the Lion bar and the Snickers bar
Both bars - both Lion and Snickers - have a similar ingredient base: sugar, skimmed milk powder, powdered milk whey, lecithin emulsifier, salt and glucose-fructose syrup. And this is where the similarities end.
Lion can boast a much richer composition than Snickers. Inside there are: palm oil, wheat flour, sweetened condensed milk, powdered milk whey, 2.4% reduced fat cocoa powder, wheat maltodextrin, sodium carbonate, caramelized sugar, natural vanilla flavor, aroma and carrageenan.
While it seems like most of the ingredients in Snickers are the same as those of Lion, there is a slight difference between them, not visible at first glance. The second bar consists of: peanuts, cocoa butter and cocoa mass, palm fat, milk fat, egg white powder, hydrolyzed milk protein and natural vanilla extract.
Both bars have a similar caloric balance. Snickers has 485 kcal per 100g (2032 kj / 100g), and Lion 474 kcal (1990 kj / 100g). If someone takes the time to accurately record the calories consumed, it doesn't make much difference which treats they choose. The presence of fat is a bit different. Snickers has 2.4 g more fat than its competitor, the vast majority of which are unsaturated fatty acids. In the case of the Snickers protein, it also fares better, almost by 50%. Lion, on the other hand, has more carbohydrates.
Lion or Snickers - which product is more popular?
Taking into account the survey on the consumption of sweets in Poland, both bars ranked somewhere in the middle of the list, of which Snickers was several positions ahead of Lion. It is worth noting that Snickers is much more popular among men, while its competitor among representatives of the fair sex.
Supporters of both solutions appreciate them for their characteristic - let's face it quite sweet and exceptionally expressive - taste. The high calorific value of the bars is also their great advantage. Lion and Snickers very often act as snacks during long trips, business trips or presentations. Consuming one or two of them will give you a generous boost of carbohydrates that will keep your mental performance at a relatively high level for the next few hours. It is worth adding that most of the statistics on this issue refer to the classic versions of the presented sweets, not their improved flavors.
It is difficult to analyze selected products in terms of price. The final cost of each bar depends mainly on its distributor and current promotions. However, it is impossible not to notice that both Snickers and Lion are available in virtually every grocery store and in close proximity to each other.
