Canned food has its not-so-short and interesting history - they started conquering the world at the beginning of the 19th century, when they were invented by a French brewer, Nicolas Appert. Since then, preserved foods have been gaining more and more popularity and it has remained so to this day! Today, they are often used by people who go on vacation (who can imagine a camping holiday without canned food?) Or who need compact food with a long shelf life.

It is different with eating canned food every day - some of them, of course, eagerly reach for them, others have doubts about the health aspects of canned food. However, does each canned have a low natural composition and a lot of preservatives? It turns out no! You should not be afraid of all canned food.

Today we are going to take a closer look at an item that is quite recognizable on our market - Krakus English Goulash.

What is canned English stew?

English stew is the name of minced meat - usually it is pork, sometimes other types of meat are also added to it (e.g. turkey meat). Of course, such luncheon meat can have various additives - sometimes it will be tomatoes, peppers, onions (or other vegetables), sometimes spices and (quite often) preservatives that prolong the shelf life and improve its appearance and taste. It is them that raise the most doubts and discourage the purchase of canned products - even if their consumption is occasional and associated with a holiday trip. As it turns out, the type and amount of preservatives and the quality of individual ingredients can vary significantly depending on the manufacturer.

Krakus English Stew

Krakus is the oldest brand of the Animex Food concern, which has been operating on the market since 1951. This brand specializes in the production of meat products such as dried sausages, smoked meats, kabanos sausages, pickles and canned food, which can be found in virtually every Polish store. And although many branded luncheon meats are considered "popular" among consumers, one of the most recognizable products is English Goulash - a canned tin weighing 300 grams.

Can Krakus's English Goulash be eaten without fear, or is it better to avoid it? It turns out that the composition of this canned food is not so bad at all, especially if we compare it with other food products. 92% of the products are meat - quite a good result! The producer declares that it is only lean, carefully selected pork with a high ham content, seasoned with matching, natural spices, one of which is mentioned in the composition - white pepper, although the product may also contain celery, mustard or soybean.

What about preservatives?

Krakus English Stew does not contain harmful monosodium glutamate, artificial colors, flavors and sugars. This is certainly a big plus of this product. Unfortunately, it is not a completely natural product - it also contains some preservatives, although they are more acceptable than those mentioned above. Krakus luncheon meat contains sodium nitrite, diphosphates and guar gum. Fortunately, these are not large amounts, and sodium nitrite itself becomes harmful when it is heated to 130 degrees. And as you have to admit - luncheon meat is not such a thermal treatment in our kitchen!

How does it taste?

Krakusa English Goulash has quite good consumer opinions, which can be found even on the Internet. It is not difficult to find the opinion of "the best Polish canned", or quite expressive and correct taste, which is not always so noticeable in the case of other products. An advantage of Krakus English Stew is also its consistency - quite dense and compact, while many products resemble more "soggy pulp".

How can you use English Stew? It can be an addition to sandwiches, groats, pasta. It is also perfect for trips, trips and backpacking trips, mountain hiking or camping. A 100 gram portion of the product provides the body with 233 calories, so the entire 300 gram can is almost 700 kcal. Is that a lot? Little? The answer to this question is relative - in the case of trips or backpacking, such a dose of energy coming from a relatively small and easy-to-pack can is certainly a big plus.

Well - canned food will probably not go out of fashion for a long time, especially in tourism! As you can see - you should not be afraid of them, because you can find products on the market that do not contain too harmful ingredients, and their reasonable consumption will certainly not hurt!
