There are tears in the eye at the thought of such sweets as, for example, TURBO gums. While the millennial generation does not know what it is about, the children of the People's Republic of Poland have their hearts pounding harder at the mere mention of some products of that period. Do you remember those wonderful times when you were not disgusted by drinking a bright drink from a bag through a straw? Or maybe you still keep an old collection of papers with super cars somewhere?

Comparing the barren taste of communist sweets to those of today, it is difficult to understand what we actually saw in them. The gums lost their flavor after a few seconds, and the candies were kitschy in appearance. Did it prevent us from eating them in handfuls? None of these things! Perhaps we wanted them so much because sweets were hard to come by at that time. Nevertheless, even the emptiness on the shop shelves could not stop us from trying every treat. Let's use the proverbial time machine and dive into the past. Let's take a look at the iconic sweets of the 90s - snacks that are still associated only with the communist era today.

Rubber

The aforementioned TURBO gums were characterized by rather low taste values, which could not be enchanted for long anyway, because they lost their taste after a while. Similar were "chews" with Donald Duck. However, it cannot be denied that both were bought in huge quantities. Why? Of course, for stickers and stories! The TURBOs were enjoying pictures of a variety of fast cars, and Donaldy gathered to complete the story. Those were the days!

Chocolate

Although today the choice of various chocolates is terrifying, in the People's Republic of Poland you could not buy too many sweets of this type. The leading snack in this respect was the Wedel brand snack with the charming name "Jedyna". Interestingly, it was a very apt name, because only this one chocolate was available on the market. Of course, its taste did not particularly resemble real chocolate or even desserts available today on store shelves. However, there was no competition.

Sweets

To this day, we show our gratitude to our beloved grandmothers, who promptly responded to our pleas for a little sweetness every time we visited them. Then they would take a torn can with rattling delicacies out of a display case, window or some other dark hiding place. Do you remember what it was? Candies! Yes, that was it! Cute and kitschy enough to please every child of the People's Republic of Poland.

Of course, there were also much more respected candies - dedicated to the sophisticated palate. IRYS, available in the following flavors: cream, cocoa and sesame, provided the high quality of taste sensations. Mmmm ... real delicacies. Maybe it was thanks to them that we grew into human beings.

Drinks

The drinks, which were also mentioned earlier, deserve special mention. Terrible, disgusting, but how fashionable! Do you already know what I'm talking about? Or maybe you have displaced this memory from your memory? Unfortunately, it's time to remind you of that. Oranżada in a bag! Children with a smile on their faces ran around with disgusting pouches, straight from vegetable foil bags in a supermarket, and drank from them straight through a straw "something" that would not be qualified as edible at present. There is a hair on the head, but that's how it was!

How nice to remember the good old days. Even though they were great, well they are over now.
