Every fan of meat dishes loves ribs. It is rather difficult to find an exception to this rule. Delicious, juicy, melt-in-your-mouth meat has many fans. And while you can easily find many restaurants serving premium baked ribs, many of you would like to prepare them at home.
How to do it properly so that the taste effect is as expected? The key is the right marinade. And for it, you can use two ingredients that you probably have at home now: beer and Coca-Cola!
Ribs in beer and Coca-Cola !?
This is no joke - beer and Coca-Cola have long been used to marinate ribs: sometimes separately, sometimes together. Some support the combination of Coca-Cola and whiskey (we are still talking about marinade, of course), others beers with honey. The combinations are free and depend on your taste preferences. And what is the best way to get them? Trying different combinations!
The preparation of the marinade itself is not difficult, but one rule should be kept in mind - the meat must be marinated for at least 12 hours! The higher the fat content of the meat we choose, the longer it should be marinated. Some people let the ribs "mature" even 2 days before they are cooked!
Marinade ingredients
Today, for the preparation of the marinade, we suggest:
- 500 ml of Coca-Cola
- A glass of beer
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 3 tablespoons of oil
- 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground sweet pepper
- 1 teaspoon of ground hot pepper
So many ingredients should be enough to marinate about 1.5 kg of ribs. Pieces of meat should be completely covered with marinade and aged all the time covered. Some people recommend rubbing the meat with salt before adding it to the marinade to add even more flavor to the meat.
What does Coca-Cola and beer give?
These are the ingredients that give the ribs a characteristic aroma and make the meat soft, crunchy, sweet and bitter at the same time - simply, the meat has a whole range of aromas, mixing flavors, which translates into the unique taste of the dish. How do you bake ribs properly?
Have your ribs been aged long enough? It's time for the grand finale! How to properly prepare them? This can be done in at least 3 ways. The most popular (but requiring patience) are the ribs baked in the oven. It's best to have a baking sleeve then. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (top and bottom), line the ribs and pour marinade over them. Bake the ribs at this temperature for about 30 minutes, then change the setting to 160 degrees and continue baking for 1.5 hours to 2 hours. After this time has elapsed, cut the sleeve, pull the ribs onto the grill, coat them again with the marinade and bake for a while at 160 degrees with hot air. This treatment will create a crispy skin on the ribs!
Grilling is also a good option for making ribs. If the weather allows and the company is good, you can light the grill and take the ribs out of the marinade. They should be baked on the medium level of the grate, over low heat, until they are golden on all sides. It won't take long. It is a good idea to pour the remaining marinade over them while baking.
The third and probably the least popular method (but also worth trying!) Is stewing the ribs with vegetables in a pan. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of oil on it, heat it up strongly and fry the ribs quite hard on each side. Add vegetables (e.g. onion, pepper, celery), pour the marinade into the pan and cover the pan for about 30-40 minutes (over low heat). After this time, you can add a tomato. If the sauce evaporates too quickly, simply add water, cola or beer to the pan. And so it will be delicious!
