Did you know that, according to the legend, the first iced tea was prepared especially for visitors to the American World's Fair? An English gentleman was so irritated by the fact that his finest fermented teas were not very popular - which was probably due to the heat outside - that he threw ice cubes into them. And so a phenomenon was born - a real "pearl" among refreshing drinks. Today, iced tea is available in every imaginable form. For just a few zlotys, you can buy a bottle filled to the brim with a sweet, pleasant-tasting drink.
For that matter, what exactly is hidden in a bottle of popular drink?
The composition of the popular iced drink on the example of Lipton Ice Tea
Lipton Ice Tea is a non-carbonated drink that is extremely popular, especially in the summer months. Extremely refreshing liquid with a strong tea flavor quenches your thirst almost immediately. Lipton in the frozen version has been at the forefront of international markets (in over 60 countries) since 1972. The product distributed by PepsiCo is available in many fruity versions: peach, lemon, mango. On store shelves you can also find a frozen delicacy with the flavors of green tea, lemongrass and ginger, Matcha, as well as lime and mint.
Let's take a closer look at the most popular specificity in Poland - Lipton Ice Tea with lemon flavor. It contains water, sugar and citric acid, as well as 0.14% black tea extract. It might not seem like much, but it is worth considering that we are talking about an extract, i.e. a concentrated form of a known tea. In addition, the product label contains 0.1% lemon juice concentrate (or lemon juice extract, which sounds much better), aromas, acidity regulator and antioxidant.
What are the advantages of Lipton Ice Tea's iced deliciousness?
Due to the relatively low content of tea in Lipton Ice Tea, the food classification does not include this product in the tea category, but in the "drinks" section. Real iced tea, however, can be made by yourself, in the comfort of your home. This does not mean, however, that the bottled specific does not taste equally good - quite the opposite. As mentioned earlier, Lipton Ice Tea - especially lemon flavored - is the perfect thirst-quencher. The distinct aftertaste of black tea cannot be confused with anything else. The deeply chilled drink immediately refreshes you, making hot days a little more bearable.
Healthy or unhealthy - that is the question
Many people ask themselves whether Lipton iced tea is a healthy drink. Taking into account the composition of the product, we are dealing with a completely average specificity - neither too sweet, nor "sugar free". Certainly, there are less harmful substances inside than in carbonated products or fruit drinks. In addition, Lipton Ice Tea has been deprived of most of the negatively influencing preservatives, which makes it quite a friendly, refreshing delicious on hot days.
