While on a diet, you can sometimes have a moment of doubt and want to reach for something sweet. Some people believe that it is strictly forbidden, if you really want to lose a few kilos, others believe that a small snack every now and then will not hurt. How is it really?
The matter is very individual, because each of us is different, but contrary to appearances, you do not need to eat only vegetables. The method of eating sweets in the diet should be adapted to the willpower and needs of a given person and properly compose the menu so that there is also room for something less healthy in it. The priority is to ensure the right amount of macronutrients, minerals and vitamins, the best source of which are vegetables and fruits. In addition, the diet can include groats, rice, fish, eggs, meat, dairy products or whole grain bread. All these products should make up 85-90 percent of the diet. The remainder is recommended for products with lower nutritional value.
Diet does not have to be something unpleasant and involve constant sacrifices, but sweets should not be a separate meal. If you are dessert, it's best to follow a high-fiber meal that slows down the absorption of simple carbohydrates. For physically active people, the pre-workout time will be a good solution. You should be aware that sweets contain high amounts of sugar, fat and salt. Their production often uses various types of aromas and dyes, which - if consumed in excess - are not always safe for health.
If you set yourself the goal of completely eliminating sweets from your diet, you can choose one of the many alternatives that will successfully satisfy your need for chocolate.
Healthy alternatives to sweets
Nuts and almonds are a great option for a healthy snack during the day. However, while on a diet, you have to remember that they are quite high in calories, so you should not eat them in too much. Another good substitute for sweets will be fresh fruit - rather opt for less sweet solutions such as blueberries, strawberries or oranges, instead of bananas or dates. In addition to natural sweetness, they provide the body with valuable nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Seeds and seeds that can be eaten alone or added to salads or cocktails will also be an ideal solution.
However, if these methods do not help, there will be a small crisis and you will still feel a strong need to reach for chocolate - choose bitter, with cocoa content above 70%. It is a rich source of minerals and antioxidant compounds, positively influencing the work of the whole organism.
While on a diet, it is best to avoid sweets in the shop. The perfect alternative for them will be cakes, cookies and other delicacies made by yourself. When preparing homemade pastries, put on coconut or almond flour and dried fruit. You can sweeten the whole thing with xylitol or stevia or another sugar substitute.
